Crickets

So my gecko has now decided that she no longer wants crickets. She'll eat wax worms (dipped in calcium powder) if I dangle them in front of her nose. She will scarf down about 6-10 depending on her mood and if she's still looking for them. It's been about a week now since she's really had a cricket, even tho they are available to her they just get old enough to chirp before they have to go in my yard. Is she just getting fat and lazy about hunting or is there more to it? How long should she go without them?

She's gotten spoiled. Now seriously though, wax worms have no nutrition value and are completely fat. Try meal worms. The other option is to not feed it any wax worms until it eats a cricket. They can go a couple weeks with out eating (just like any animal can go without eating for a period of time) so if she holds out a week or so then that's alright. Just don't give in and feed it wax worms or it'll never eat crickets. Another option, try mashing the wax worms and rubbing them on the crickets or meal worms to trick it into eating. It's just gotten picky since the wax worms are so tasty.
