I would set up a male and 4 or 5 females per ten gallon (approx. space)Two males will occupy themselves killing each other instead of breeding. Pick medium mice, not huge spent things. DO NOT meddle after you set them up. Don't add another in a week or move anyone group to group. Mice want to be left alone. Leave them for a month, maybe even two. Some of my best line of mice take a couple months to start then kick in and go. Be patient. Don' t feed seed mix.....I feed dog kibble, others feed lab block. Don't panic and feed them off if they eat a first litter or two. Let them be and they will settle down. As for temps....room temps are fine. To hot and you kill them, too cold and they will spend all their energy staying warm.

When you say 4-5 females and one male to a 10 gallon, do you pull the moms out right before they give birth? I do you keep them in there and let them have their babies in with the other mice? Also do you have a wheel in the 10 gallon? Just curious Thanks

As she already said, set up the colony and leave them alone. Don't add or remove any breeders once the colony is set up. They will all raise the pups communally, including the male.

Leave them alone. You will do way more harm than good if you shuffle animals in and out. They will be fine.
If you want to add a wheel, knock yourself out. I usually toss in some box....cereal, tissue, cookie....something for them to use and chew. Recycling.
