Scrub Feeding?

toddbecker Nov 15, 2007 10:15 AM

I have a baby scrub that is aproximately 3 feet long. I have had him for about two weeks and have tried to feed him twice. First time I offered him a small mouse P/K. Left it in the enclosure over night. Nothing. So I tried again this week, but this time I tried a small rat. Once again nothing. He is in a temporariy enclosure for about a month or so. It is a large rubbermaid, Clear. The humidity is holding at about 70 percent or so and the temps are 80 on the cool with a basking spot of 90 provided by a UTH, mounted in teh cage. He has a large water dish and a perch that he often hangs out on. What do some of you experienced scrub breeders recommend to induce his feeding reponse. As a last resort I am thinking about picking up a parakeet and offering him that since I know they often eat birds in the wild. Any suggestions will be greatly apreciated. Todd

have you tried tease feeding yet? I wouldn't use any birds it might be hard to get them to accept anything else later on, but either way I wouldn't worry yet its only been a couple weeks
