OT love is in the air......

rainbowsrus Nov 15, 2007 07:28 PM

My BCI's are going at it already. Came home today to find several pairs at it.....

From Tuesday, Cinnamon (Hypo) and her mate this year Pepper, basically boas aby line just snuggling. No real action but wow was a cute photo opportunity.

Again on Tuesday, Taffy (DH sunglow) being courted by Dagwood (albino)

And Last one for Tuesday is Vanilla (Ghost) being wooed by Nestle (Pastel Motley)

Today I found this, such a cool sight!!! I had made a 2.2 colony including both of my 1.5 year old Pastel motley males (brothers) together with a Burke line coral albino female along with a ghost (pos super) female. Found each of the motley males working a different girl. WOOHOO!!

And also found two other pairs going at it...

Fireball (TH male) courting Crystal (DH female) maybe a moonglow getting started?

York (albino het snow) courting Tootsie (Anery het snow)

congrats i need to start shoving pigs into my arab to get him to size for next year wait power feeding bad lol

Seriously, small weekly meals does wonders for growth. It's more of keeping fuel in th system, not overloading it!!!

And yes...powerfeeding is bad, you bad man you!!

your crazy i thought you knew super power feeding and dirty filthy cages are the best things for your animals lol but yeah i think i got a dwarf boa lol he is a lil over 1 and eats every week in shed or not and it leaves a nice lump in him to nothing huge just enough to last 2 ish days and he is still only taking like rat pup ish size he is just now big enough to be to big for the first philips baby rack.

rainbowsrus Nov 16, 2007 12:35 AM

I have to admit, the cages been a bit dirty lately, don't want to disturb any action to clean them up!! I do hate leaving them dirty!!!!

Yeah, pinch me.....so much cool stuff going on and to opportunity for soooooo many cool babies and such a variety as well!!!!!

My motley boys are making me proud, now let's hope they "get er done"!!!

Yeah, let me pull one off his GF to see how long he is Yeah right. LOL!!!! Seriously, about the same size as their sister and she is.......going to measure her..... I'd put her at a good five feet and I think she's a bit bigger than the boys are. So the boys are an easy 4 to 5 feet.

Dave,

Congrats I hope they all produce many healthy babies.

My BCI is 15 years old this October! has only ever bite me once and that was my fault, great snakes! I would love to breed them as well but I am not a huge fan of feeding super large rats.. He is 9'7" hehe..

That is pretty big Jason. What has been your feeding schedule for him and how long have you had him cuz that is big lol. great story and it is great to hear that someone has an older boa and just doesn't dump him or her off cuz they won't make them money so congrats

Bob,

Thanks!! I have had him for 15 years now but when I purchased him the owner figured 2-3 years old so he is around 17-19 plus years old. My feeding schedule has been every 14 days in his older age, however typically I can tell when he is hungry sometimes it might be 7 days (rarely), he has gone without food for months at a time throughout his life. He typically isn't an aggressive feeder and for the longest time and even till this day he will only eat when I leave the room (he does this about 1 out of 3 feedings). His meal is a super large rat 600 plus grams. As you can see from his water bowl those are bricks to give you an idea of his size. I am a tall/big guy and he is allot to handle very strong and his water bowl takes FOREVER to clean/fill hehe..

In this photo he was hungry, I think I feed him that day and he smelled the rat thawing.
