Sav Enclosure,, Huge window!

Hissenia Nov 15, 2007 10:59 PM

Here is a custom enclosure I built for my sav. My Sav dug a burrow under her basking rock.

Congratulations!

I'm sure your sav is lovin' all the room.

What did you use to seal/protect the wood on the inside of the cage from moisture? It looks so natural.

Have a good one.

Thanks..

It is natural.. Ill have to rebuild it at a later time with treated wood. I didnt want to add extra chemicals to it. My Sav loves the branches. She has a look out point she sits on everyday.

Lookout point - Ha! That's cool. So is it starting to get used to you & not runnin' & hidin'?

As for what kind of sealer/protection you used on the inside, don't get upset with me, but, I could tell it wasn't sealed/protected. I was just trying to point it out in a nice way without being critical.

I can understand you not going into too many details when you're going to re-do it later on anyway. I'm spending a lot of time protecting the one I'm building, even though it's gonna be a temporary. But, I'll be using it over & over, for a long time, I hope, as I've got plenty of other reptiles that would LOVE to have it. Hahahaha!!!

Thanks for sharing your pics!

Catch ya later!

You have got to be the nicest person on here...

Next one I will use treated plywood and lumber. Ill make it abit sturdier. probably silicone the seams too.

My Sav seems to wait for me. It follows me. I was cleaning the the outside glass and my sav looked like it was center court at a tennis match. So much personality packed into that little scaley package. I have to use a glove when im moving or cleaning inside. It trys to climb on my hand just about everytime.

Ha! Well, I see I've at least got you fooled. Hahaha!!!

That's great that your sav is seeking a relationship with you like that. Sounds like you've got the one that everyone dreams about. Seize the opportunity and don't deprive it by not interacting with it when it wants you to.

Seriously, that just thrills me to death. Where do you live? I'm gonna come steal that lil' booger.

My adult female is about the same way but I think she's just recently gotten that way due to maturing and my gentleness with her.

Her previous owners said she was handleable but didn't like to be handled. Most of the time, though, she comes to check me out lookin' for food because I've got her on a bit of a diet 'cause she's so dang fat.

Enjoy your "special one!"

Later!

I would agree with happy on them being borderline and smaller would prob be a little more expensive possibly but easier to digest. Now my personal opinion it is cheaper, easier and safer to feed frozen/thawed mice. You can buy them in bulk always have them on hand and no chance of biting an injuring your monitor. If for some odd reason that I cannot possibly see you insist on feeding like rodents then you really should put them in the feeding tank one at a time cause by putting three in there you are really increasing the chance of injuring your monitor if you just think about it. I mean the one that climbed on his back could of easily hurt him and while he was eating one the other two could and I would hope you couldnt want that.
