mootish Nov 16, 2007 05:41 PM

My iguana melvina is not eatting well , im not sure if it has to do with winter setting in
one day she eats like she alaways eats a healthy piggy and now there's days where she wont eat her greens at all like shes not interested in them ,
i am in the proccess of training her i have her cage opened and i just read to her ..
she does try to come out but i cant let her at this point in time becuase the surrounding area is not iguana safe ( proof )
she deficated the other day and kinda sort of layed in it leaving a lovely mess on the floor and be misting her and trying to get it off of her .
that was about 2 days ago ? .
today she did the same thing again butt really there is no poop just s smear of it everywhere ? and everytime she does this she trys to come out and gets it all over her like it was on her head ..a bit i got it off but shes not really friends to hands yet so its a bit hard to

anyone have ideas ?
i really think shes doing this on porpose to come out of the cage now,
as she lets me hold her occassionly and sence the room is not iguana safe yet she does not wanna stay on me anymore just wants to explore i feel bad but the room needs to be safe for her inorder for her to explore it

any help in advance thanks
christna

hi mootish i am not to sure why she not eating her greens maybe you are giving her the same things they like variety not the same thing everyday or he/she just dont like what you are giving on that day.when they dont eat there is very little poop fi any untill they eat again. sound to me they want out like you say to roam around they tend to find away to get out and if its pooping and climbing through it for you to open the cage so to escape that what they will do all the time. and easy and great way to get them clean is to let them soak in the tub and they will poop in there to when soaking so be ready to take them out and clean it and put them back in to soak some more they love to swim but dont fill it to high just so they have no problem keeping the head out of the water. dont worry the like to swim under water to. and a big plus not only does it give them something to do but helps greatly with shed.hopes this helps iggirl1

thank's that could be a possible answer ?
i feed her collard alot , but she likes mustard too
ill try and see what happens to make a conclusion , .
and no affence to your suggestion about swimming but i really dont think she trusts me like that yet as shes still a bit nippy and trys to bite me sometimes not like she use too .. about 2 months ago
i adopted her so shes not tamed really at all , shes getting use to me know though i talk to her and even put music on for her ,.. i really would love to let her roam but theres things that poped up and i cant get her room finisihed
and she can not roam downstairs.. i have a dog and i dont trust the dog at all , ... with my iguana
i really do think though shes in better hands with me then she ever was .. and she is letting me hold her now but dislikes hands in the tank alot .
so its just about trust and i dont have a bathtub.. for a 3-4 foot iguana i mist her she seems to like it

she ate all her mustard tonight..
