White Hyla versicolor. Read and drool.

I was on the prowl for copperheads and timbers in Western Massachusetts when I climbed into an abandoned swimming pool to check out the amphibians in the 6" or so of water in the deep end, and maybe find some hunting copperheads. Instead I found a little white tadpole that was resting with its brown fellows in the leaves. I scooped it into an empty water bottle, examined it closely and decided it was a gray tree frog. A few days later front limbs popped out and it absorbed its tail. It developed some pale yellow and blue pigments, and it looks like a dime sized dollop of key lime pie with giant eyes. I used to keep these hardy frogs as pets when I was a kid, I'm really looking forward to watching this little treasure grow. If it looses its green coloration as an adult, which most do, I'm expecting it will be a patternless ivory color.

Enjoy the pics! Try not to be too jealous.

That's pretty cool. A friend of mine found white GTF tadpoles in a cattle trough a few years back and he always lamented that he never collected a couple to see what they'd look like after they metamorphize.

That's awesome. I came upon a bunch of tadpoles a couple times this season. I wanted to collect them and see what they turned out to be, but they were in Rana chiricahuensis territory, and I didn't want to end up with a protected frog in my living room! Ended up passing on those little guys...

Neat little frog. You'll have to post more pics as it grows.

Next time don't use so much bleach, Tony! J/K! Very cool weirdos this year all over the forums, albinos, two headed births, striped rats, wonder what's next?

I went back in the posts and saw that somebody found some white pacific tree frog tadpoles! I'm guessing that albino tree frogs are able to blend in and hide better than a white bull frog or green frog. Maybe albino tree frogs are more common than we think?

I hope that pool isnt bulldozed before I can go back and look to see if that phenotype appears again.

I found a green frog like that once. Blue is the coolest morph of all.
