Same problem as DotheDrew....

athos_76 Aug 24, 2003 08:35 AM

I just woke up this morning and one of my hatchlings has what seems to be a tapeworm sticking out of him...hes trying to poop it out...Should I seperate him from the others? And since he is so young, how should I treat it? Is there something I can buy over the counter or do I have to take him to the vet?

Hey what im doing is taking him to the Vet. its your best bet i think. i dont think there are any over the counter drugs because it is hard to get weight and amount of dose. How long is the tape worm. this is how long mine was. i hope i cant help i just know this thursday im taking him to the vet how is yours eating.

It was about 4 or so inches long. Still sticking out of him, and he was going crazy trying to get rid of it. My other snapper was trying to eat it when I found him. So I seperated them, even though they probably both have tapeworms by now... They also have a vet appt tomorrow morning... I found a vet in S. Florida that specializes in Turtles, and the first visit for all reps is free.
