not really a trick question but may be a intergrade. Its from right on the line but keys out as pure.

p.s. she is w/c and pure locale. And yes there is a male from same exact spot to go with her.

Amaura X Annulata?
Nice looking either way.
How's it's temperment?

Nice snake...but if it's from an intergrade zone than it's an intergrade regardless of the phenotype. That is a kick ass looking animal though. I need to find an annulata badly...it's just too bad that you can really only roadhunt them...
nice mexican-if i had to choose,i'd guess the other subsp. influence is celaenops.

...and the volume of time he spends hunting alterna, that's probably a good answer. Maybe the snake is from around Del Rio...?
I'm going w/ celaenops.
Annulata would be the intergrade.
Looks like a low band count on this animal. How did the milk w/ it key out?
-Dell
I thought about that, but the taper behind the head through me off to the annulata side...
agree with Dell though I've more often seen the orange ground suffusion in mexicans.
You da man.
Let's see brother....
Are they possibly celaenops x gentilis from Coleman or Albany, Tx?
My other thought are Barnharts?
Nice looking animals regardless buddy.
Nathan
well....I really don't know squat and the pics you guys are showing aren't like the examples in all the books put together I have seen......
my guess anyways....border of amaura and anulata and it is an anulata........
LOL
wonder how bad off I am.......?

.
that justian nailed it.Its from 10.2 miles north of Dryden just east of sanderson TX. Yes, it keys out celaenops but you can see a little annulata influance. I have a friend that has a male from within a mile of her. Can't wait to put them together.
Phil, she is a doll and is very calm btw...
here is the male that will be used on her. From the same place.
Shannon

I thought that thing looked a little annulata-ish by the coloration but like you said it keyed out more celaenops which was my thought. Looks like some of those intergrade Barnhart milks Troy and Marla have found. Didn't Dave Long find one in Sanderson a few years back that looked similar?
Nate
-i won a 1.1 pair of '08's,right?lol....actually i don't think i was the only one that guessed that.and i see annulata all the way in the original snake shown;i'd never guess those two came from the same spot,either....good luck with the project, keep us posted.

I would vote annulata as well, but the band count does throw me a bit. In that case, I would guess the integrade with Celanops even though thats not very original. Either way, love the snake.

Ryan
That's a stunning annulata, Ryan! With as many nice animals as you have, you're really doing us all a disservice by not posting more photos. Maybe when you're done with grad school?.... Please?.... LOL
-Cole
Cole,
Yeah maybe if I get that digital SLR for Christmas that might help to! I promise that when I don't have anything to do during my free time, I will take lots of pictures. I have a great picture of a specimen wearing a tiny childrens raincoat. Wanna see that one??
-Ryan
Was that snake found up 349 near Meyer's Canyon? It's sweet looking, similar to some of the annulata I have found near Hebbronville.
Nate
yep, just 10.2 miles up the 349 from dryden.
