Mouth gaping?

What does it mean when they do this? He had a bad shed (I think it was stress related since humidity is 75%) And I was pulling it off of his feet. At first he struggled but after a minute he just started opening and closing his mouth.... Any ideas? I am sure he was stressed but I have never heard of them doing this. ????
