First time out...

FireStorm Nov 18, 2007 05:54 PM

We only had about a half an hour to look, but my parents just got my brother a hook and he was dying to try it out. We found this guy under some sheets of plywood in our neighbor's yard. Just a black racer...nothing super exciting, but it was our first find so we were happy.

And here's a shot of the future herpetologist:

Thanks for looking,
Shelly

Haha- VERY cool!

That last shot of him with his hook is great!

I can wait until (I HOPE) my 4 year-old boy catches the bug, so I can take him out with me time and time again!!!

Thanks! He wants to be like Jeff Corwin when he grows up, lol. Now that he found something, he's pretty fired up. It gets him away from watching cartoons, too.

Your son is adorable! I bet he'll have a blast once he's old enough to go with you. Kids seem to really like reptiles if they're exposed to them when they're young.

Thanks- he's my boy!!!

Oh- if he thinks that was fun, wait until he does a trip, and does it for 2-3 days straight, and includes some road cruising- he'll never want to come home!!!

I love watching Jeff Corwin- he's awesome, and VERY entertaining!

Anything to get the kids up and out of in front of the TV!!!

I bet he will! His birthday is in March, and he wants to go to the Everglades then. That should be cool. We've lived in FL for almost 10 years (wow, I just realized that) and never gone. We're going to northern Michigan for a few weeks this summer, too. Our cottage is really remote, and it's surrounded by undeveloped land so there's got to be tons of places to herp up there. It should be a fun trip.

Btw - did you ever watch the Jeff Corwin bloopers episode? That was hilarious.

Yep, that's it. He really is nuts, lol. I have the whole thing saved on tivo...if I ever figure out how to record with my DVD player I'll make a copy.

We're outside of Tampa, FL. It's starting to cool off at night, but it's still pretty warm during the day.

Thanks,
Shelly
