How big can Macklott's Pythons get?

jimburke27 Nov 18, 2007 09:58 PM

Hello. I purchased a Macklott's Python in November 2006 and he was 73" ( 6'1" ) at the time. Now, only a year later, he measures 85" ( 7'1" ). His age is at least 6 years maybe 7 or 8. I have been feeding him one large rat every 10 days since I have had him. When I bought him I was told that he would probably reach 7'. Only one year later he has already become that big and I wonder if he could end up reaching 8'. If anyone knows a lot about Macklott's, I would appreciate any replies to my message.

Up to 10', depending on lineage.

lineage? thats a good point. I think there are three but the timor "type" being the most common. mine are only hatchlings and growing like weeds (with teeth). anybody know if the Roti or Semau types differ much in size , color, or attitude?

I would just like to know whether it is the Male or Female Macklott's that get to be:

Bigger?
Longer?
Heavier Bodied?

I would appreciate any helpful input here.

Female as a general rule.
