I know what you mean. I have a 100% het pied female that is the sweetest thing, but she is a rats worst nightmare. She goes insane when she sees prey. Kinda awesome to get that response from such a little snake.
Oddly enough, I only get feeding responses like that during this time of year when they are breeding. Probably about 20% of the snakes come flying out of the drawers and strike the rat in midair before I can ever get the thing in the cage. The rest of the year though, they wait patiently for their meals. Strange.

I've noticed the same thing. I few of my girls are super agressive right now. I can hardly let go of the rat fast enough. They're not usually like that, though. My males are a different story, though
.
My big female is ALWAYS a pig these days. After she laid her first clutch last year, she could never get enough to eat!
Her biggest daughter is the same way, too. And I'm not complaining!

I havent had a feeding response like that since my first ball python. A wc, I unknowingly purchased him with a RI infection and minor scale rot, he recovered with moderate/poor husbandry. However, he was nuts. I'm talking the crazy cg anaconda out of the movies crazy. It would litterly go ballistic (no pun intended) and fly across the cage, almost like a garter snake. And if i didnt get the rat in fast enough, it would strike at the glass repeatedly. Even though i didnt know better and fed him live, he is still my best feeder to date.
I have one female that you better be ready when you slide the tub open!
