Are Repti-Racks any good?

Rob_G Nov 19, 2007 12:04 PM

I posted a message a few days ago asking for opinions on Repti-Racks but no one has responded yet. I figured that since they advertise on kingsnake.com that there must be someone who has bought from them before. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I just took a look at their ad. It doesn't seem like a bad cage, except there is no means of using belly heat. It appears that Radiant Heat Panels are the only way to go, which makes the cost per cage go up once you add in the heat panel. Animal Plastics allow for belly heat w/heat cord and radiant heat, of course. I have one of the original hatchling racks from AP (animal plastics) and I have NEVER, knock on wood, had any issues with the heat cable vs. heat tape. There new style 4' cages are very nice, and customer service is excellent! They also come in white or black, and sliding glass doors as well. I think they're still offering the free basking shelf upgrade as well. If nothing else, order ONE Repti-racks cage and give it a test run. I did this with a "popular" cage model, and I found I didn't like them. Sorry nobody has any feedback for you, maybe you'll have to be the first on the forum to give an opinion. Take care

There always has to be someone to take the plunge. I was just hoping it wouldn't have to be me. LOL. Thanks for your advice. I think I may go for it. Unless someone comes along soon and gives me some reasons not to. If it doesn't work out I can look at it as learning experience and tell the next guy on the forum not to make the same mistake. Alternatively, it may turn out to be a fantastic purchase. I'll keep you posted.

I decided to pull the trigger on the 48x24x15 with radiant heat panel, thermostat, lighting and lock. It should be here in about 6 weeks. I'll let everyone know what I think once I get it.

Looking forward to your review. I hope you have a great experience, it sounds like their company could use a little promotion via word of mouth. Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving!
