Converting a Chest of drawers...

bakeaway Nov 19, 2007 04:11 PM

I have a rack system that I like, but I wish I could see my snakes easier. I was thinking of getting a 6 drawer chest and removing the drawers and making a cage rack out of that.
I was going to put plexiglass as the fronts on hinges for each shelve. But could not figure what to use as a back and should I use Flexwatt or cable heat?
I am going to go to Ikea to look at what they have.
Has anyone done this type of conversion before?
I would build one from scratch,,but me with power tools is not a good combination.
Thanks

David

Yes i have a 4 drawer bureau, took out three drawers, took out the center support made those into side supports, added the bottom of the drawers as platforms that now hold the containers, a towel covers this but here is what it is today, as they get bigger, i buy the bigger containers and with lids slide them in. It will work for a few years yet and my BRB sits in the tank above covered in the towel for now. Simple for someone who doesn't have alot to work with. Could even gut this out, turn it on it's side and add plexiglass as a door.
