I posted a question a few days ago looking for information on how long the shedding process takes from start to finish for Pituophis Deppei Deppei. Well, he finally shed late this morning. It was cool to watch. His shed was successful, except for the shed not coming off in one piece. It came off in two pieces, but no retained eye caps or end of the tail. The smaller piece of the shed was about 4 inches long and was the tail section of the snake.
So just in case anyone has the same question in the future, here is my data:
11/09/07 -- Starting to go blue
11/10/07 -- In blue
11/12/07 -- Eyes still opaque
11/14/07 -- Eyes still opaque
11/15/07 -- Eyes starting to clear
11/16/07 -- Eyes are clear
11/19/07 -- Successful shed (two pieces), no stuck eye caps or tail.
Of course he defecated also, and had a huge drink of water when he was done with all of his days activities. So tomorrow he will get his first meal in two weeks.
