I had a couple spider clutches this season. And one of the clutches I had bred my spider to a spider sib (unrelated). One of the spider babies has got the common spider spin, but she has more problems then just that. She spends hours upside down wondering the tub, or she will just twirl around. WTF, lol...She just looks so retarded!! Anyone else have spiders like this?

I would not go as far as to call my particular spider retarded, but she does act strnge. I just purchased a little baby hatchling male spider a day ago. Lets see if he has the same strange behavior...

My spiders PERFECT..... Some spin....some don't.....some that spin will make spiders that don't.....some that don't spin will produce spiders that spin.....not much you can do about it....I think it's adorable.

I have many spiders that spin, this is something else. She will be on her back rolling around on the floor 50% of the time. Yesterday I pulled her our of her water dish because it looked like she was going to drown.

Kyle, isn't spinning neurological? I really know nothing about it, but it seems to be along the same lines only worse. Just an uneducated guess.

There isn't anything wrong with the animals....they eat well...they breed well...they just wobble a bit. EVERY spider that I have seen does it to one extent or another...some grow out of it and some don't......but if you say you would be pissed to get a spider with issues.....then you shouldn't get a spider ever....

Trust me....wobble or not ... there isn't anything wrong with them.

Mine did that a couple days ago. He never spins, never wobbles, never goes upside down, never looks up at the ceiling -- as far as I can tell, he doesn't have the spider retardedness, he acts just as normal as my other ball pythons. BUT he ruined that idea the other day -- I found him coiled on top of his water bowl with his head down in it, just sitting there like that (I use plastic deli cups with lids that have holes in the center). I thought he was going to drown himself. I pulled him out, and the next day, he was doing it again. WTF?

lol.... great snakes, but yeah a little bit of a flaw. My spider breeder is so normal... not the best looking spider, but such a cool snake. And I am still amazed that he bred females at 350 grams and produced a couple clutches for me.

I'm not -- from everything I've heard, spiders usually breed early and breed strong. That's how they became so wide-spread so quickly. My '06 male is 720g right now and breeding like a stud to his 2 girls. Last year, he was 8-10 months old and breeding at 400g and produced a clutch with a hot bumblebee in it (which the owner kept and then sold me the spider father).

I've had other Boids and colubrids do the same thing. Spiders may have neurological issues, but I havn't met a snake in this world that would/try to intentionally drown itself. I had a Albino Granite Burm that would do it just about every day, but did't have any known issues.

so I guess we are stuck with them....

I think you are right. I was just thinking about renaming my bee to Retard earlier today. Tiny wobble and no spinning, but he acts different - like he isn't all there...

He also will not even look at f/t so I have to get mice just for him. Freaking prima donna retard.....

i'm not big into ball pythons...i just purchased a pair a month or so ago... (i mostly deal with boas)

...but....i don't think we should be blaming the snakes for "retardation" afterall, WE are the ones inbreeding, incessing, crossbreeding...and basically "playing god"...

Don't get me wrong, i love the ball python morphs, but at what cost are we creating them?

if i had it my way there would be a retirement home for all the "retarded" and "disfigured" snakes...lol..but hey, thats just me.

The neurological issues are part of the Spider gene. Greed has nothing to do with it, since Spiders have been outcrossed from the first and subsequent generations.

Spiders are probably more outbred than your average import. Has anyone even crossed spider X spider in the last several years? Has anyone other than NERD ever crossed spider X spider and how many times was that even done before giving up on a super spider and moving on to just spider combos?

I have NEVER known a SPIDER BALL or any of its combo to only eat Gerbils. You crap talk Spiders about being "problems" and act as if you have had a great deal of experience with them.
