Anyone dinking with full back stripes??

Ginevive Nov 23, 2007 04:57 PM

I am. I got this male recently, who has never been bred. He has a full stripe going from head to tail. I am breeding him to a normal female who has typical broken-stripe dorsal markings.
I have researched it a bit. I saw that Joe Compel works with similarly-marked snakes. I agree with his saying that, though others have tried to prove-out their striped BPs and it didn't work, that it does not mean that mine won't. Hey, I can dream.
I saw that VMS Herp proved one out that had come from Pro Exotics as well.
Here is my boy, doing his thing. Your thoughts?

We have 3 full stripe females, and 15 with 2 or 3 breaks. Probably will run some striped males with them just to see what happens.

I've only got one aberrant stripe ball. He's a male and so I'm just waiting to either find a comparable female to pair him up with or to find someone with a full stripe female that would like to take him in on a breeding loan. Otherwise, at this time, he's just my "pet" and I think that even for a "normal" unproven ball he is one of my favorites. He just has too much personality.

That's how my male is too If he never proves out, that is fine with me. He is actually the "lap snake" of my collection (not now during breeding, but otherwise..) He will sit quietly if I'm watching TV or hanging out with friends at home; now, my others would be trying to escape to never be found in couch cushions or under tables everywhere!

My stripe to stripe pairings really haven't materialized yet. (Those pairings are in line behind the other 3 million projects I want to get off the ground) I have been using the striped females to breed to other morphs in hopes of making them striped.....with very limited success
It is a project that many have written off but I think it still has merit. If memory serves me correctly Pro Exotics hatched a wicked striped hypo.
Last year I bred a yellow belly to a nice striped female and hatched some wicked yb's with "broken" stripes. I held them back...maybe I'll see something better in a few years.

VMS Herp's proven line of Stripes are outrageous looking.
The contrasting black and yellow colours should make for some incredible crosses.

Good Luck to everyone on their Stripe projects.

I have 2 stripes -- one is just a normal and has been proven so many times despite his unusual pretty look. But this girl came from 2 yellow-striped parents (was the only surviving egg) so she's a dinking project in the works. She is an incredibly picky eater despite being CBB, so it has been hard to get her up to size. But she's there, so she's been breeding with my mojave. I figure with her colors, they would create incredible babies if she is indeed genetic.

This is Misty with the highest gold female I have:

And with her mojave mate:

She is a hottie! And with stripey parents.. that is cool too. I think that you chose well by breeding her to a mojave as well.. she is bright..!

we are officially beyond the dinking stage and are into our own line of genetic stripes now

you can read some history and see some pics at this link, and i will take a pic of this year's best striped baby, easily the best yet, later today.

i couldn't tell you how predictable it is, but it is definitely there

some of the Ghost stripes that we have hatched have their own morph appeal, with unbroken stripes, but this is the coolest stripe yet from our line, with diminished side pattern, about 6 weeks old, i just snapped this pic today : )
