hey i have a few questions...

well first of all id like to tell you guys that my iguana has been eating and pooping every day

my questions:

1. is it ok to have the same basking light in the day as the night? ive been told that a varied temperature for night/day was needed but id like to know for sure since i recently purchased a 100w ceramic bulb.

2. is it normal for iguana poo to look like bird poo?

3. i plugged in a 150w heating bulb and my iguana wouldnt really climb to the top of his basking area. could this be because it was too hot?

4. what time is usually lights on/off for you guys' iguanas? ive been doing about 12h. like 630am on 630pm off.

5. is it normal for an iguana to not like getting misted? when i mist my iggy he seems to get startled.

It might be too hot, yeah, if he is not using the basking spot. You might want to use non-contact thermometer to measure the temperature to get to the right temperature. The ideal basking spot should be 95-100 degree and the rest of the cage should be at least 78-80 degree. Usually, the basking light can be in the same location at night and day as long as there is day/night cycle of 12hrs light and 12hrs no light, then your iguana should be fine. That's why I use red light (or you can use ceramic heating element) for the basking spot so it won't interfere with your iguana night time sleep.

And it is normal for the iguana poop to look like bird poop, yeah, except it stinks more...not too much but it stinks more than bird poop.
