Mex black king colors?

HalfDead Nov 23, 2007 06:52 PM

I have been looking for a pure black mex king but always seem to find white on the chins, I bought one today and it has 2 verry small white dots on its chin.

My question is this, does the white fade? every adult MBK ive seen was gorgous jet black. was searching for a pure black baby pointless? or will the black babies be the black adults.

Also i have a patterned mex black king that looks wierd. does anyone know about these mex black kings that show the white pattern?

The white spots fade a bit. I have a MBK that's about 3 years old now. When I got him as a hatchling, he had quite a bit of white on his chin, but now he only has two small white spots. I don't know if those will disappear as well. Only time will tell.

If they're small enough, I think the spots on yours will disappear completely over time. It could take a few years though.

I've always avoided the patterned ones completely, so I can't tell you anything about them. It's the solid jet black that sets them apart from other kings, imo.

The two dots under the chin are pretty much a standard. I have a few with no spots/dots of color. Interstingly, I have a harder time getting females with no color out of my breeders. Next season should be a big one as I have 4 more killer females ready to breed my best males.

I actually like the white on the chin. I think it just adds a little to the whole picture.

Mine had 1 spot, it then faded when it grew. Now the snake is solid black.

Babies almost always have a patch of white on the chin which usually fades to black as the snake ages. There may be exceptions to this, but the vast majority will have a bit of white.
