How worried should I be about possible impaction from feeding on top of aspen? Are those using aspen removing their snakes from their enclosures to feed them?
Thanks in advance.

Well, I hear a lot of folks are fearful on this point, but I've been using shredded aspen for almost all my snakes since the late 80's, and no problem so far. I also know many other big breeders who use nothing else.

I always remove mine (they live on aspen), but that's mostly just because I don't want to take any chances. I have a friend that just feeds them on a plate in their aspen...

I have a large boa that I feed right on the aspen when feeding live or fresh killed. When feeding frozen thawed I also feed her on a paper plate . I use paper towels on all my ball pythons from hatchlings to adults with no issues. The paper towels are changed more often than aspen but it works well for me.
