Box turtle release

athos_76 Nov 24, 2007 07:28 AM

Hey all... recently (well a couple months ago) I found an injured florida boxxy that was mauled by a dog. She is now in good health, and I want to send her back into the wild. I'm in the Broward County area in Florida. Any good places to release her? She is still very fearful of humans, and I feed her crix, worms, mealies and lots of fruit and veggies with supplements. I was thinking of releasing her in a nearby park that has a refuge section.

Contact a wildlife rehabber in your area to find out if there is a good place to release this box turtle. But if any of your other reptiles have been sick or are wild caught and the turtle came in contact with any of them-you may not want to chance releasing the turtle back into the wild in case it picked up germs.
