Python Belly Swelling

ksimler Nov 24, 2007 08:45 PM

I have a 4 foot python that ate a fairly large rat for its size and a day later it has a swollen stomach. Is this dangerous? If so can anything be done?

pics would help, otherwise wait a day or 2 to see what happens.. if nothing happens and it ges away it's fine, if you notice anything like it being lazy, getting bigger, breathing trouble, a vet is all you can do.. it is possible they burst their stomach, however unlikely as the neck and mouth would most likely burst far before the prey got to the stomach... but a random sharp claw or bone could have sliced the stomach wall... Vet is your only option if this is the case... Goodluck, Keep us posted...
