Pac Man Behavior Question

grantguy Aug 24, 2003 02:44 PM

Dobbins (My Pac Man frog) has been burrowed in to my substrate for about 4 days now. He eats crickets when I offer them to him, I'm just wondering if I should be concerned about him not using his water tray? Should I be concerned that he doesn't move around more? He's only burrowed partially. Is this just his normal behavior?

This is perfectly normal behavior for these frogs. And don't worry about him not using the water dish he'll use it when he needs to.

Sounds completely normal to me! These frogs are not known as an "active, energetic" type. Mine spend about 90 percent of their time buried, maybe using their waterbowl once a week for a soak. As long as your frog has a good appetite and is not scrawny, most likely he is healthy. You use vitamin powder once in awhile, right?
Here's a pic of my guy, Azure.

Well I have only had him about 2 1/2 weeks now, and he's doing great as far as I can tell. I feed him 2 crickets a day, gut loaded. As far as the vitamin powder...I'm not familiar with that. Can I pick that up at PetSmart/PetCo? Do I feed it to the crickets? Also...I had been using a basking light, and I just purchased a heating pad for under the tank in the winter. (Care sheet told me it was essential). Is this ok? Thanks for your responses.

Ok, as for the vitamin suppliment you put some of it in a container and the crickets in the container and shake it to get them coverd and feed them to the frogs that way. I use Herpcare-Calcium & Vitamin D3 Suppliment, it workes pretty well.
And do not use undertank heat, these frogs burrow to escape the heat and may burn themselves.
