Long basking veiled

djfuente Aug 24, 2003 02:44 PM

I have a young 4month old veiled and he seems to spend most of the day...say 75% of daylight time, under the basking light. He's my first cham and I did do tons of research before I bought him and trust me he should be under every ideal condition known to me. I'm just curious as to whether this is normal in everyone elses experiences. The temp right at his basking spot ranges from 94-98F. To my understanding this is what is recommended. Also, he always seems to be somewhat darker under the bulb while he's basking.
Thanks ahead for your response.

sounds like he wants to be warmer. when a reptile turns dark - means it is trying to collect more heat. Lots of species do that.

If the temp is just right...hrm...offer him a little more maybe? Make sure to keep him hydrated.

good luck. My cool jackson does the same thing...
