how tame can I get a yellow jayapura if i get it as a baby?

It varies from animal to animal. Mine is quite tame. Others aren't. Babies on the whole are usually a bit more skittish and more readily bite than older animals, but I've found with chondros that pretty much what you get is what you get. My Biak girl was quite ready to bite and as she's aged, she's improved to the point that I can take pictures of her, and weigh her without getting bitten, but she's definitely not tame like my Sorong or Jaya types.

Just to add to MegF's post, chondros should be handled as little as possible the first year. So if you're going to get a baby, there shouldn't be many chances (besides regular tub cleaning) to get tagged for a while.

Why do you say it's important not to handle them in the first year?

Because they are fragile?
