Want to know about chlamydophila in ETB

vano Nov 25, 2007 07:52 AM

Hi I have other a group of 10 ETB, from a importer. They come from Guyana, and I have read about chlamydophila, and i am getting little bit panic with. So would be very apreciate any information about this sickness. Regarding treatment, I have read it need treat for 2 weeks everydays,so in my experience for Morelia viridis, for a fresh import a treatment of 2 weeks could be like kill the snake. So anybody know a shorter treatment?

So I want take 10 becouse i know i will suffer a lot to stablish my snakes, so after i do that work no more animals in that room for a year, ( the quarentine period normally for my animals)

In this situation any advise about stablish ETB and chlamydophila, will be fully apreciate. I have experience with chondros for 7 years.

It is a very complicated disease to deal with.

The diagnosis is very hard to do. It has to be done by PCR, but it is not very accurate. The best way to diagnose is by biopsy/necropsy, checking the Chlamydia typial lesions.

Another thing is that it can be trasmited by the air. The spores are released from the feces once they dry, so you must keep everything very clean.

I have heard of treatments lasting for up to 40 days.

I would reccomend a careful quarentine. But the best deal would be buying CBB emeralds.

Thanks a lot for the answer, so as long is quite difficult buy cb here in Spain, i will buy import one. So regarding chlamdophila you know some traetment, like enrofloxacina, or other antibiotic intramuscular?

And have you experiece with WC animals?

regards

Vano,

It is a lottery.

I dont know any treatment other than that mentioned.

I wish you good luck. In 10 animals you will probably get one that will have problems with regurging, not necessarily chlamydophila.
