not eating and found fleas in water bowl

jscnlc Nov 25, 2007 06:00 PM

I have a 1 year old striped cali king. He has always been a great eater and has grown significantly in the 10 months we've had him. 2 months ago he stopped eating full sized F/T mice. After a few offerings and him refusing I offered him a fuzzy, he wolfed 3 of them. Since then (5 weeks) he refuses to eat. I have offered both mice and fuzzies.
We have cats and today i noticed 2 fleas in his water dish
Could the fleas be irratating him to the point of not eating?
He seems very normal, no irratic behaviour.
As he hasn't ate he has not shed in some time (which was normally every 3 weeks)
I have studied him with a magnifying glass and see no mites, bites, scars at all. He does have a few "lifted" scales but that always seemed rather usual before a shed
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Oh, he is in a coconut/aspen mix that he has always enjoyed tunneling through
John
