question about hets

Faster Nov 25, 2007 07:08 PM

ive been thinking about buying a 100% het for albino male and possibly a 100% het for albino female. is it a bad idea to breed two hets to one another to get albinos? or would i be better off breeding an albino to a 100% het for albino?
any input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

JM

Doesn't matter either way really. You could end up with visuals from both pairings. A het to het results in 25% visuals and 75% poss hets. That is on a per egg basis. So, if you have an 8 egg clutch you could end up with more than 2 visuals. Now if I did my punnett square correctly a visual to het breeding would result in 50% visuals and 50% hets. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on my odds.

your odds are right, plus, by breeding an albino to a het you have the added bonus of all non visual offspring being 100% hets. no guessing, and no normals.
