ball eye problem

cellfonequeen Nov 25, 2007 08:02 PM

my ball was bit by a rat, above the eye itself, like on top of the eye lid and on top of her head. the eye looks sunken in and the top of the eye lid looks fleshie. I put Bacitracin on it, and will do it 2x's daily for a week or 2, but will she lose her sight or her eye? How do snakes fair with one eye hunting wise?

she eats very very poorly on f/t and shes not reliable enough of an eater to offer p/k. i dont want to kill a rat for nothing. this is why i have to feed live. I feel bad enough as it is, so please dont flame me.

ok this morning i went and checked on her, her eye is no longer sunken in and i dont see any pink fleshie lookin stuff above the eye. either the bacitracin worked or maybe it was a retained eye cap and in the dim light i saw it wrong? I have no clue, but im happy but will continue to put the triple antibiotic ointment on it for a while

She still may have developed a fear of rats, maybe not. If she is hesitant to eat now try her on mice. You will need to feed more at a time but they can do way less damage than a rat. I always stand on guard when feeding rats with my tongs and watch for biting. If I see a biter I push my tongs in the rats mouth.
