HELP cut on my snake what to do

mweippert Nov 26, 2007 01:07 AM

i was feeding one of my bp a FT feeder and when it constricted it i think a tooth on the feeder cut skin down to the meat she let go and went into the other corner of the tub and left it alone. she was cut along the top of her back about 3-4mm long in a V shape and the skin is hanging down she is just over 200g. has this happened to anybody else? what should i do to help her?

I've always had good luck w/triple anti-biotic ointment! Most will tell you, it's for external use only, but I've used it anyways and had great results! Rub some on AND in the wound and leave it alone! The snake should go into immediate shed!

Means it's not meant to be eaten.

Putting it in a wound that's not deep enough to need stitches is perfectly fine and exactly what it's intended for.

Clean it out with some betadine, and then put on some antibiotic ointment, such as neosporin. That's it!

I've had a snake with much worse, and that's what did the trick for her.

Good luck, and as long as you keep her and the cage clean, you shouldn't have much to worry about.
