breed an albino to a pin. make 100% het albino pins. then breed them to an albino or a 100% het

since you bred Dbl.hets you should breed back the DHs for that one in sixteen Dbl Homozygote Target animal ,concidering the goal and what you have avail.!

If you want to start an albino pinstripe project buy a male pinstripe and breed him to your het albino female. Hold back all pinstripe possible het albinos produced. Breed ALL male pinstripe poss het albinos back to their het albino mother. Breed female pinstripe poss het albinos to your original het albino male. With a little luck you will get your pinstripe albino in as little as 2 years but more likely 3. You might be able to pick up a lower quality male pinstripe and female pastel for $1K.

Personally, I would invest in atleast a pair of yellow bellies, because I think Ivories are absolutely gorgeous... but you could probably get more than just a pair of YBs with 1k.

just my $.02!

Personally, I would buy a Pin, a Vanilla or a Fire. I'm not sure you find a Fire for $1000, but IMO it would be worth saving a little more to get one if you had to. If you bought a Pin you'd probably have a little left to get a Pastel female or something.

Hope this helps,
Shelly

Does anyone else cringe when they hear the "I" word when talking about buying ball pythons? The OP might not have intended it to be taken this way, but when I read the word "investment" I assume that receiving a return is a part of the question.

Assuming thats what the OP meant, I think it's possible to make your money back in a few years with 1000 bucks into any morph, but definitely don't quit your day job...

extensive Nov 26, 2007 04:03 PM

sorry for using that word but i would like to see a return. these guys are my pets first. like you said i am pretty sure i will make my money back unless one of them dies... im just wondering what a safe bet would be.

i really like the pins and pastels so thats what im going to get. even if they are only $100 a piece ill make $$ for the life of the snake!

no need for apologies. These are our pets, first and foremost, but of course you want to make a common sense decision and one that will hopefully pay off also. There is nothing wrong with planning on investing. Investing is what young retired people did correctly.

He meant you're late in the season for buying snakes at good prices. And 5 female pastels for 1000 is pretty good. That's 200 a female. If you had bought them in the middle of the season you could've gotten better deals and it would have been easier to find them. If you look you should be able to get some but not for that good of a deal. If I were you I'd get pastels, mojaves, cinnamons, or a pin. Any of those would be some nice additions. Also look into getting a spider. Good luck.

Yeah no doubt. They would still be wet from the egg,and priced as such..That's wholesale,(Which everyone wants to pay,but they want a 300 gram animal for it.)

Get a yellowbelly or mojave male, and look for the 600 to 1000 gram females everyone is letting go of this time of year.Be picky and get the odd looking ones(may cost a bit more though)...I've had a blast hatching some weird stuff this way.

........yea..I would have sold 5 female pastels and threw in a couple /few males to boot..........but they sold .......mostly in big package deals........and I don't ship.......but other people sold them for that, and some still do probably...you just have to look in the right places........

..........the more you buy the cheaper they are.............people like the $1000 cash all at once.......

I have critters here now that I am holding for people....I don't mind some, but others I just have no idea how long it is going to be till they come around with cash.......(only a few so not a big deal)........

........pastel girls are always a good keeper........cinnies or black pastels ........het albinos, even albino girls......pinstripe, ...

good luck.......

If I was in your shoes and had a G to spend I'd probably go for a pair of spiders, a female pastel, and another female het albino.

emberball Nov 26, 2007 06:19 PM

Right away, I am thinking Laptop computer, do you have one, do you want one? I just bought an Acer, spent about $750, and it is sweet!

Buy some stock, $1K could be worth some serious cash in 20 years. Buy something that pays dividends, so even if it goes down a bit, you still are getting paid. Coke has done really well for me, and Disney, but I would not buy those now, maybe Hershey, Nabisco, Kellogs, 3M...

If you have to buy a Ball, now, what are the ages of your Het Albinos? Albino x Het is always much better than Het x Het, so that is an option. You can obviously use a Pastel, Cinn, Spider or Pin. Maybe it is time to add one or three of those as females, and buy a nice male in a year or two. Het Pied trio would not be bad! Albino Pieds are sweet.

Seriously, what beer do you drink, go out and buy that stock

Dave

wh00h0069 Nov 26, 2007 06:45 PM

Albino male, and a few het females. I would also get a spider female for him. Hope this helps.

norse79 Nov 26, 2007 11:59 PM

I believe pieds will always be a quality "investment", but for 1000 you would have to go with hets and wouldn't turn a profit for several years. But everyone loves pieds and they would be easy to sell. But then again everyone like bumble bees too so a spider wouldn't be a poor decision either.

I personally wouldn't buy any female pastels. You already have a pastel male and you can produce your own. All you would be buying is saved time. Just my opinion...

I have to admit I use the word "investment" also, but all I do is buy more snakes with whatever I make.

I see your point if you were saving 2-3 years. I guess I was thinking about my own personal situation with having a breeder male. I would only save 1 breeding season. Not worth it... I'd rather pend money on a different morph that I don't already own.

i don't know if you could find one but a super pastel female can make great morphs. They might cost more than a grand tho.
