I noticed today that my bp has a dimple in his eye. looks like hes in shed. I've never noticed a dimpled eye before. is this a common part of shedding?

yes- common... you might up the humidity a little- offer some super fresh water... a lot of the rescues come in looking pretty dimply and are dehydrated...
dont want to insult you if you are super- experienced- just an idea... but yha - common at shedding...
