adult caging

HottYwVette11 Aug 24, 2003 04:43 PM

what is the ideal demensions for an adult cage? I am thinking 2'x2'x2' with a screen top. It will be made of acrylic and look similar to the custom ones made by b.a.r.r.s

It depends... ideal for who? 2x2x2 is probably the minimum size you should put an adult in. It is convenient for people who have several snakes in a small room. They seem to do quite well in a 2x2x2... I am personally in favor of larger cages. they allow you to have a better temperature gradient. If you go too big then they become really hard to heat proprely...I like 3 to 3 1/2Lx2wx2h or something like that...
As far as the screen top I would strongly reconsider. A screen top makes it realy hard to maintain the amount of humidity necessary for a GTP. You should look into small lateral or backwall vents and a radiant heat panel but leave the top intact...
