Update and some questions

Hi all.

Thanks for all the support for my sick collards. Unfortunatly, Taco died on Friday. It was very sad, but I'm glad he's not suffering anymore.

Squirt, however, seems like she may recover. She's more active, holding her head up and just seems better.

We're still treating with antibiotics, calcium and a liquid diet.

Squirt is soaking herself a lot. I don't think she is impacted, but I'm not sure. What does soaking usually mean?

She also still has gunk in her eyes. Should I think about getting some eye medicine for her, or is this usual with respiratory infections?

Last thing: We're still feeding her a liquid diet (Flukers). How do we get her back to eating solid foods? She won't eat waxys and mealworms make her sick to her stomach. Live crickets are the only thing she'll eat, no veggies seem to interest her. Any ideas on how to help her start eating solid food again?

Thanks everyone!

Star, I'm sorry to hear Taco died. It really stinks As far as your baby girl soaking a lot, meds make them dehydrated maybe shes being smart. But I also would like to ask how old they are and if they were wc's, I forget when you got them?????

Sometimes soaking in the water bowl alot or for long periods of time is from having mites. I know this from doing an extensive study on parasites/mites lately. They lay in the water to drown them, and sooth themselves from the biting. They are so hard to see if they have them. let me know if they were wc and when you got them.

Again it's such a shame about Taco, I'm pulling for his lovely lady!

Taco was WC (wild caught?), but Squirt was captive bread. I had Taco for 5 years and have had Squirt for 6 years. I bought them both at the same pet store that specializes in reptiles, about a year apart.

As for mites, I don't know where they would have picked them up. Unless they got an infected cricket somehow. The vet gave them some anti-parasite medicine on the first day we went, just in case.

Thanks for all your help. Any advice you can give me on Squirt's diet would be appreciated.
