Sand Safe? Experiment that worked!

reflex21089 Aug 24, 2003 05:02 PM

Try this it worked for me...There has been the deillema that leos live on rocky clay ground with little sand...well i wanted to try sand or a little while so i bought some sterilized sandbox sand and washed it (i took my leo out for this part) I tok the damp sand put it in the tank and pressed it down firmly. I let it dry and now it is hard and it has some loose sand on the top i also scattered pieces of slate in it so it looks geat! and it is safer than normal sand. Ill get a pic sometime this week

Cool! I've thought of that before, never actually tried it though. I would be worried that the sand would loosen after awhile so you may have to wet and dry it again. Let us know how it goes, and I want to see how it looks!

Sounds like i good idea. I had an idea to get some slate tiles and break them up and but them in the bottom of the cage with small gaps inbetween them, and pack the gaps with wet spangum moss and let it dry...should be nice and hard then. From what you said the sand idea might also work
