How Do Other People Breed Feeder Mice/Rats?

TheWormwood Aug 24, 2003 05:06 PM

Just wondering what sort of setup everyone else has, or if they can reccomend a method to get more out of their breeders.
I have a rat cage, and a mouse cage right now, both with a single pair of animals.
Is it worthwhile to get another female or two, even if it means crowding the cage a bit? I realize they're only breeders, but I'd still like them to have as comfortable a life as possible.

As well, I know that prolonging exposure to light (say, 14 or 15 hours as opposed to the 12 cycle) can stimulate horses to breed. Is this effective with rats/mice, or am I just dreaming?
