pacman lighting question

klugawitz May 22, 2003 03:17 PM

in the morning when i turn my pacman's light on he is full of color and very green and some orange, but by the end of the day he is mainly different shades of brown. Is this because of the light i use? If it is what brand or type would you recomend. I have 2 tube lights that i keep on for about 10-12 hours a day.
thanks in advance
paul

if this isnt a problem please tell me so, but i want what is best for my frogs so please help.

Doubt it has to do with light. Mine can tints based on heat, stress, or other factors. Fluoro lights are not even required to keep the frogs, though they may bring out better colors. Andy

thanks but my problem is when I turn on the lights he loses his color. So i was wondering if the bulbs i have in their are nto good for him and was just wondering what kind of bulbs other people use or recomend

It shouldn't matter...all bulbs are basically the same. You could buy a bulb that isn't made for reptiles and theoretically it should work just as well. Andy

My cranwell changes from brown to tan with emerald green patches all the time. But I have read somewhere that full spectrum lighting can enhance the colors, but I wouldnt know.

I use a 40watt full spectrum incandecent light bulb.I only heat one end of the tank so that peewart can move if it gets too hot.
