Doug, I like that temporalis. I'll bet you wish you still had it.
It's tough sometimes, what do you have to give up to keep what you want. It seems every week I look at what I can sell off to make room for another animal, or if I could just fit in another rack here, I could fit in 15 more...

Doug, that Bull snake came from the Bighorn river while I was working.
Check this Bull out, biggest one I've ever found in Montana. A little over 6'. I was working here too, just going home for a beer and dinner.

Dell, do you live in Montana? My family is from Cut bank, near Browning. I haven't been there to visit since '89, but after seeing some of those triangulum you've been catching, I just might have to make a special trip.

Phil,
I think Cutbank is going to be a little to far north for multistrata. I've never hunted that far north for pales before.
I know Hognose have been found around Greatfalls, so maybe you could post a finding for a new county.
If I were you, I'd come herp in the spring w/ Cole and I for a few days, around Billings. Then go see your family in Cutbank.

Patton Nov 29, 2007 08:15 PM

Yeah, I know that there aren't any Multistrata that far north. Like you said, they're further south east of Cut Bank. It would be a good excuse to see a part of Montana I've never seen before. One of these days........

Phil,

Both Dell and I live in Billings. Are you from MT? A good friend of mine is from Browning.

Yeah, my Mom's side of the family is Blackfeet and Gross Ventre, pronounced Grow Vont. She grew up in Cut Bank. I used to visit Montana a lot as a kid, but I haven't been there since '89. I pretty much consider Hermosa Beach, Ca. home, but I haven't been home in a few years either. LOL!! My wife is in the Army, so we've been moving around a lot in the last few years. There are plenty of herping spots I want to hit again, when I do make it back to the west coast.

Cool pic Dell! Next time you need the snake in one hand and a beer in the other..LOL.

Nathan, I like beer as much as snakes and cigars, so it could happen.

Doug,

That's a beautiful animal. I think we can all reflect back and think of animals we should have held on to!

DMong Nov 29, 2007 01:19 AM

Thanks Cole,....I couldn't agree with you more on that!

A few hypos. The last pic is of an 07 animal I should have kept. The pic just doesn't do it justice and the guy who got it said it almost doesn't look real. Like Shannon said, you can't keep them all.

Sunherp Nov 29, 2007 09:12 AM

Any snakes that look as nice as yours can play! Those are killer - I really like that first pic.
