good food place?

cianke Nov 28, 2007 03:22 PM

I have been getting mice from a breeder near my home for a while now, but he has recently become ill and is not going to be able to do it anymore. Where is a good place to order from and what is the going rate these days? I have only one pet store near me and they want over 2 bucks a pink. I also am not overly impressed with the animal care there so Id rather not shop there anyway.

Online he cheapest is rodent pro. If your near Indiana or Ohio or Pa they do shows, you may combine a show to save on shipping.

This past summer I was in Texas with a good friend. He had a good friend that just so happened owns the mouse factory. I needed info on mouse breeding. I'm hard to impress on a high level, but Ray the owner gave me a 20 minute lecture on mice. I know my mouth dropped. The guy knows mice to a molecular level. Feed, housing, types of grain, why dog food is bad long term, levels of fat and protein at each stage of life. I can also say he prepares mice better than the meat we buy for ourselves.

I've also heard great things about the Big Cheese Rodent Factory.
Many people use them for high quality stuff

We breed some of our own at the shop. When we need, we order locally. I also don't need much, and in the cleveland area, so I hit a show for a few bags of pinks from rodent pro then try to repack with vacuum packing.

Themousefactory.com

Edna at the mouse factory is awesome to work with super nice lady, plus their rodents are in awesome shape, never any gross ones in the bunch, very professional. also they have options like small pinkies and large pinkies which is very nice to have the option, and their large pinkies are LARGE.

I really like dealing with The Big Cheese. I have had great service form them and the quality is much better than what I have gotten at the Indiana reptile shows.

I buy alot of mice from Mice Direct as well. Many times better prices than Rodentpro. Both are great though.

i order all of my feeders from micedirect.com they are very awesome to deal with. the only problem i have run into is that they run out of sizes often and you have to wait for them to produce more. but in my eyes that is a good problem because they are selling lots and my mice are really freash and i know it.

p.s. i have ordered from rodent pro in a pinch, and they were a great price but their mice have a smell that is horrid. but i would do it again if needed
