Shedding questions

wvherp Nov 28, 2007 06:03 PM

I've got a newborn campbelli, good size. She eats well, every five days. She shed on 11/14 and I have not even noticed her being in blue lately but she is shedding right now, again. It has been only two weeks. Could this indicate an injury or illness? Or is this not unheard of with hatchlings? Any input is welcome. Thanks

Multiple sheds like you describe are unusual but apparently not connected with injuries or illness every time. I keep records on every snake, every shed, and see an occasional 'out of cycle' extra shed every year but not on the same snakes. I think they just do it to make us mammals scratch our hairy heads.

Jeff, she definitely has me scratching mine. I am by no means an expert, but have been around snakes for the better part of my life and have never seen this. I didn't even see her in blue. She was having trouble shedding so I put her in a smaller box with wet paper towels and water dish. Hopefully when I get home tonight she would have gotten it all off. Thanks for the reply
