I got a pair of non-feeding Tyrrells from StretchX this season, long story, anyways, they didn't make it. Hopefully I'll be getting another pair next season. I posted photos of my St. Marys in my post under Temporalis, but it doesn't have a "Image"
balloon next it.

this is a axanthic taylori I had for several years but she never would breed for me and died of mouth rot after battling her for many years. She was collected as a large adult.

just for fun here is a anery amaura I had.I actualy had a pair and lost one and ended up loosing interest and selling off the one that was left.

Very intense looking snake that I'd posted here a few months ago back when you were still playing with corns and pythons Jeff. I've never seen a shade of red like that or so much red as in this particular snake but he was shipped out to Germany this spring.
If you listen carefully, you'll hear Tony D screaming in the distance...
I have hundreds of taylori photos and will shoot some your way, it's too much stuff to post here.
Jeff

wow, that thing is killer Jeff.

DMong Nov 29, 2007 01:54 AM

Man!,...Jeff, I remember that special looking pic from a while back!,....I don't think snakes come any deeper red than that one!

That animal's erythrophores were working over-time in the egg!..LOL

That animal brings up a great point. Coastal populations are far from easily defined by phenotype. Southern MD particularly produces a whole range of animals that by their phenotype could be mistaken for NC or NJ animals.

Jeff Schofield Dec 03, 2007 01:33 PM

Tony, MD does have the widest variety of coastals.I think that is because it also has the most founder stock animals. But to say that phenotype isnt locale dependant doesnt take into account the variability that got most of us into milks to begin with. Its not a coincidence that us milkheads can usually guess the locale of an animal. Comparing enough animals we will find similar charecteristics we recognize from other locales(striping in NJ,calvert and e.shore). When I am determining locale though I am hardly ever limiting my eyes to one trait. Band depth is usually the best marker but its a trait like any other and it can vary.By the way, I have a adult dbl het coastal that looks ALOT like that one there and he is over 3'....Jeff

Tony D Dec 05, 2007 07:53 AM

"But to say that phenotype isn't locale dependant doesn't take into account the variability that got most of us into milks to begin with"

What in the world is that Jeff? Just because you got into locality milks based on variability doesn't mean the view is correct. I don't deny that there is SOME correlation between locality and phenotype across coastal population, I just don't think it's an absolute like you do. These aren't alterna.

Jeff Schofield Dec 05, 2007 08:45 AM

Tony, when I look at a milk I am looking at all the following at the same time....size,shape,head shape, band depth, band width, color of the red, and color of the white. Now I think what you are saying is that a snake of 1 locale might have color or pattern like another locale. I think there are too many "markers" to not have something in common with its heritage. Alot of factors come into play, like the red dirt of NJ that isnt found so much in MD. I think this is why NJ tend to be more ORANGE and the MDs more red, but what do I know, lol. Jeff

DMong Nov 29, 2007 01:45 AM

Holy smokes Shannon!,.. those are some insane looking animals!

I'd chop my left %$&@ off to have those!

Shannon, it looks alot more like a cross than a "pure" carolina. Head shape, black bands(width, etc)make that one look like a calvert x tyrell(because of the ghost banding). Whats the history on that one? Jeff

pweaver Nov 29, 2007 07:42 AM

you can see more pics on my website. First pic of hatchling also has a MD hypo mixed in.

Here's my two girls. Stripped/spotted Ocean Co. N.J. female and St.Marys county female. I lost my male St. Marys and never had a male Ocean Co.
And of course I rush home to get a picture of them to share on this thread and the stripped is in deep shed!! So I attached an old picture of her. She is not as bright red as everyones Tyrells, she is very deep blood red. I think my photo skills are well known so I'm just glad you can tell they are snakes!!!

Ted Thompson is the father of both.

Steve

terryd Nov 29, 2007 04:46 PM

Steve your funny. I can tell they are snakes and very nice looking snakes at that.

It looks like you have gotten better w/ the camera.

What ever became of the hypo syspila you had?

-Dell

stevep Nov 29, 2007 05:22 PM

Hey Dell

The live with Jeff Schoefield (sp?), The Monster Island milk guy. Hated to sell them but had to. All the kids that I got from Mr. Hardwick were outstanding animals and those hypos were the best. Didn't you get a small colony of them from Nevavda or some place?
And what ever happened with the tri color hogs? Did the male ever get the job done?
And it's been said many times ... you have one fantastic collection and you show it off well! Keep it up.

Has the screwey weather affected the fishing?

Steve

terryd Nov 30, 2007 09:45 AM

Steve,
I'm not fishing because it's butt arss cold up here now, with inches of snow everywere. Burrr
It looks like I'll be working in Argentina for two months so I may be fishing sooner then later.

I do have a colony of sypila, some hypo some hets some het for nothing. I just liberated another pair from a breeder too.
Wish you hadn't given up those hypo. syspila. But, what are you going to do?

The tri-hogs have moved on to a new home.

Thanks for the kind words,
Take care,

-Dell
