rdude110 Nov 28, 2007 07:12 PM

Whats the diff between anery and axanthic. I think mine is both. It looks kinda like a killer bee ball python(look on NERDs site)

As soon as your born you start dying
So you might as well have a good time

ALRIGHT!

Scanning the scene
in the city tonight
We're looking for you
to start up a fight
There's an evil feeling
in our brains
But it's nothing new
you know it drives us insane

Running,
On our way
Hiding,
You will pay
Dying,
One thousand deaths
Running,
On our way
Hiding,
You will pay
Dying,
One thousand deaths
Searching,
Seek and Destroy
Searching,
Seek and Destroy
Searching,
Seek and Destroy
Searching,
Seek and Destroy

There is no escape
and that's for sure
This is the end we won't take any more
Say goodbye
to the world you live in
You've always been taking
but now you're giving

Running,
On our way
Hiding,
You will pay
Dying,
One thousand deaths
Running,
On our way
Hiding,
You will pay
Dying,
One thousand deaths
Searching,
Seek and Destroy
Searching,
Seek and Destroy
Searching,
Seek and Destroy
Searching,
Seek and Destroy

Our brains are on fire
With the feeling to kill
And it won't go away
Until our dreams are fulfilled
There is only one thing
On our minds
Don’t try running away
`cause you’re the one we will find

Running,
On our way
Hiding,
You will pay
Dying,
One thousand deaths
Running,
On our way
Hiding,
You will pay
Dying,
One thousand deaths

That's a great question! But I'm not sure the answer is as simple as it seems, particularly with BRB's. Generally, people seem to use "axanthic" when areas of the snake that are normally yellow are not yellow. (The term axanthic is used since the pigment cells called xanthaphores typically produce yellow.) The term "anerythristic" is generally used when red/orange pigment produced by erythrophores is absent.

With BRB's, I'm not sure anyone really knows how the pigmentation works. So personally, I think it's hard to classify your snake.
My speculation, which is admittedly base on very little evidence, is that your snake is anery, and it also has a lack of brown melanin. The reason I'm saying this is because the few albino's I've seen in pictures have little or no orange/yellow the ground color.

My advice, don't stress to much about what it is. It's a cool snake.

Thanks,
Ed

Yeah, keep stoked about your awsome snake and pamper it but don't stress about the exact details of how it works. You won't be able to tell even the most general things(other then that it isn't normal, DUH!) until it is a few years old at least and most likely not until it's offspring are old enough to breed. Essentially you are looking at at least 5-6 years before you really start to get a good idea of exactly what you found.

In the meen time enjoy a killer snake and the anticipation of some great breeding program exploration.

PS; If your snake is for sure a male then I would arrange to breederloan him to someone with alot of breeding experience and prefferably with both hypo and anery females available to breed. This way you can split(by some ratio or agreement) the babies and both of you end up with potentially, double het(anery? hypo)/anery/double het(anery? anery) offspring to work with and you get the increased success rate for the breeding from their experience breeding BRB's. Of course you have a couple years to wait and enjoy him/her before that is even an issue.

Sean.
