My favorite alterna

archaeo1 Nov 28, 2007 08:35 PM

I wish I could say I caught this one but that's not the case. All I could do was drool when I saw it. It was collected by a NPS ranger, George Burdick, in 1975 near Sanderson. Sorry for the lousy photo but that was all I had time to shoot at George's place in the park that year. Thought you guys might like to see it. Does anyone know what happened to it and George's other animals after he died? I wondered whether Dave Easterla might have got them.

Cheers,
Henry W.

That is an incredible alterna! For what it's worth, I would never have guessed Sanderson as to where that snake was found. While it would not be my favorite ever, it would definitely be way up there. Thanks Henry for taking the time to post that spectacular blast from the past.

Henry,

Hey, I remember that animal. It was indeed an outstanding snake. I think I might still have a photo of it myself packed away in my archives form many years ago. But I may never see it again after our recent move. I'm afraid that I have no idea what happened to George's animals after his passing. He was a good friend. Thanks for posting that.
