Probe depths for Glades?

viborero Nov 30, 2007 10:24 AM

Does anybody know how far females probe? I've got two snakes that are probing 7/9 and 14/17. Does that sound like a pair?? 7/9 seems a bit deep for me...

Thanks for any feedback.

A female snake--regardless of type--will probe only a couple of belly scales, three or four at the max. A male will probe a lot more--maybe 7 to 12, or more. I'd say you have only males there, no females at all. Run a test on your KNOWN males and females in your collection.

Right. That was the issue I was having. All my female snakes probe no deeper than 4/5. These are the only "rosalleni" I've ever had, though, so I wasn't sure if there was a difference in this species.

It makes no difference, since I was planning on selling off the male and keeping the female as a nice display animal. I guess now I can sell either one!
