NORTHERN TERRITORY NEWS (Darwin, Australia) 28 November 07 Plenty of bite in these little snappers (Nadja Hainke)
The latest headliners at Darwin's Crocodylus Park's newest attraction are not salties or freshies - but three American alligators.
The 1m-long babies will be on display at the park from today.
Park owner Grahame Webb said: "Everyone knows about alligators but not everyone has seen them before."
The world-renowned zoologist said they were less aggressive than saltwater crocs.
He warned alligators could still be dangerous but said they will not breed in Darwin because it's too hot.
"They don't get anywhere near as big as saltwater crocodiles," he said.
"A 3m-alligator is a very big one. But they function the same way. They still attack people in the US."
The 10-month-old alligators arrived from Sydney's Reptile Park yesterday.
