Looking for new housing solution - Please help!

draco Aug 24, 2003 07:17 PM

I have a housing problem - While indoors, I keep my Tegus in one of those laminated partical board jobs that you see in some of the shops. It's falling apart, due to the humidity.

Here's my question: Does anyone use an enclosure made by Cages by Design? How do they hold up to moisture? Any other housing recomendations are welcome.

Thanks in advance,
Ken

I just got some from there, and I'm not at all impressed with them. Mainly because they screwed up so many things on my order. The panels they provide are made from "fused" laminate. If you don't seal the panels, they will far apart due to moisture. Luckliy, if they ever need replaced, you can just buy regular plywood and replace the panels.

My tegus always scratch at the glass doors when I walk up to them. I would think they would tear up plexi.

make sure the enclosure your using does not have a low and exposed heat lamp. I use vision cages for small animals. depends on the size of your tegu. my big male is 4' and 20 lbs so it takes a big cage for him. he gets housed outdoors in a 6'x 8' pen. you might want to consider a horse trough with a plexi lid and vent holes. someone posted info on this a few days ago.

good luck
