Jasballs (females size)

Hey jas
I have seen you post about your success with small males but had a question for you about female weights. I have in the past used 1500 grams as a minimum but this year I used a few females around 1300 grams. What I noticed is I had zero slugs from these thinner femals than 1500 - 2000 gram females. Has anyone experienced this ? I have 3 females that are in the 1200 -1300 gram range that are het for albino that Im considering breeding this coming season. what is your opinion on this ? Thanks jas!

I've noticed the same thing. That is why I continue to breed young smaller females. Granted I have had some young girls lay slugs. Like my 15 month old spider. 8 eggs out of those I got 4 good eggs and only 3 made it. Age? maybe doubt it though...

One would think that it has to happen in the wild. A male (young, old whatever) comes across a female in the 1000 gram range and then nature takes its course (or doesn't). If it does, I doubt the female stops and thinks, "wait, I'm not in the minimum 1200-1500 gram breeding range".

Hey,

The only female I ever used less than 1300 grams (right around 1180) gave me 3 slugs and one good egg (but it was a nice black back female!).

Hope this helps!

Steve

Steve, I got 3 eggs from a 4800 gram girl. What is your point?
