Something that large is probably an abscess. Chams can get abscesses in the skin, sometimes due to a build up of unshed skin blocking a pore. Abscesses in chams fill with a firmer cheesy matter rather than the liquid stuff a mammal's might have. Also, depending on where it is in relation to his nostril, it could be something extending from a nasal passage. There is no way to know without an exam. Some years ago I had a LTC verrucosus who developed a lump on his snout near the nostril and I took him in. He had a large encapsulated abscess that had slowly worked up to the skin surface over time. When the vet flushed and swabbed it out we found a hole from the surface through to the roof of his mouth. Amazingly, it never bothered him much and all the material was cleared out it healed over and never recurred.
