I have 2 imported young adults that have refused rats and mice for over 6 mos. They still have remarkably good body weight! Anyhow I was thinking instead of Gerbils (both have eaten one) I'd try starting my own colony of these rodents.
I paid a ridiculous amount to get 2.4 shipped to me and ended up getting 3.3. I put what I consider a surplus male in w/one of my finicky snakes and he hit it w/in 2 minutes of it being in the cage! Now I'm hoping they start to produce soon as I'm hopeful all of them will take to these rats in a similar manner. These rats at adulthood are as big as a jumbo adult mouse and supposedly have giant litters (10-14 pups). So far I'm thrilled!
